Allergen Testing

ALLERGEN TESTING (this is mark's test msg)

Food Allergy is a rapidly growing area of consumer concern (affecting 6-8% of children and 2% of adults). Legislation has been implemented in America, Europe, Australia / New Zealand & Japan that requires the presence of the major food allergens to be labelled when included as ingredients.

AllerGiene
Charm AllerGiene is an ATP-based allergen control test designed to prevent cross-contact from allergenic food soil on process equipment. It measures ATP (adenosine triphosphate) at low levels as an indicator for the presence of food on wet-cleaned surfaces or rinse waters. By achieving a higher level of “clean”, better management of allergen control programs is achieved.

ALLERGIENE AT A GLANCE
• 30 second test
• Broad spectrum indicator test
• Achieve a higher level of “Clean”
• No reagent preparation or extraction
• ATP is common to multiple allergenic foods
• Patented thread design for ease and repeatability
• Recyclable components for low environmental impact

BIOKITS ELISA TESTS

BIOKITS products and services are employed by food manufacturers and regulatory laboratories to ensure accurate labelling and to control accidental cross-contamination by these proteins.

A specialist range of tests, designed to both detect and quantify allergen content in FOOD and utilising environmental SWABS.

Intended Use

The BIOKITS range of ELISA test kits have been developed for use in the detection of quantification of allergens in foods and environmental swabs.

The risk to consumers caused by undeclared allergens in foods means there is an increasing need to incorporate routine Allergen testing as part of the manufacturing process.

Why BioKits?

The BIOKITS range of Test kits are at the forefront of advances in the area of Food Allergen detection. BIOKITS tests are being employed by food manufacturers and regulatory laboratories to ensure accurate labelling and to control accidental cross-contamination by these allergens.

Fully Validated

All tests have undergone a rigorous validation process, investigating the sensitivity, specificity, cross-reactivity and robustness of the assay.

Features

RAPID TESTS

On-site Allergen Test

Simple qualitative hand held tests for detecting allergens in FOOD and environmental SWABS.
Our Reveal 3-D™ technology provides the reliability for real time decision-making.
Available for Almond, Casein, Egg, Gluten, Hazelnut, Peanut, Shellfish, and Soya.

Simple & Reliable

The Reveal 3-D™ Test makes it simple to screen for the presence of low levels of Allergens in food products and environmental swabs virtually anywhere. Sample preparation and testing take less than 10 minutes, making it a useful “on-site” screening test for decision making.
Each kit contains everything needed (including swabs) to perform 10 single use tests.

Reveal 3-D Technology

The UNIQUE hand-held device with 3-line readout: a control line confirms the method has been performed successfully and two further lines differentiate low & high levels of detection.

Intended Use

The test is intended to be used ONLY in a food manufacturing/industrial preparation context or for food labelling enforcement testing. It is NOT SUITABLE for the testing of foods consumed e.g. in the home or in a restaurant by allergic individuals.

ALLERGEN SWABBING KITS

Intended Use:

The BIOKITS Allergen Swabbing Kit has been designed to provide an effective swabbing method and sample collection device. The potentially allergen containing solution produced can be tested immediately (using BIOKITS Rapid Tests), in your own laboratory (using BIOKITS 96 well ELISA kits) or simply send the samples to your designated laboratory for analysis. These specific allergen tests supplement your regular hygiene monitoring tests.

Need for swabbing:

A list of potentially allergenic ingredients* has been defined in the November 2003 EC Directive 2003/89 EC. Control of these allergens in e.g. food manufacturing & catering establishments, is therefore becoming increasingly important. Many manufacturers are adapting HACCP programmes to include an Allergen Control Plan to minimise risks to allergic consumers. High levels of cleanliness are essential to prevent cross-contamination of traces of ‘hidden allergens’ on all process equipment.
(*including Cereal gluten, Crustacea, Fish, Egg, Milk, Peanut, Sesame, Soya, Tree nuts) Suitable for swabbing: food preparation surfaces, food production equipment, environmental samples

Kit contents:

20 sterile swabs, pipettes, swabbing solution, labels, transport tubes and caps and a swabbing sample Record Sheet.
