About T-Sticks

T-Sticks are a convenient and accurate single-use, cardboard thermometer used to quickly check if meat, fish, or poultry are thoroughly cooked and safe to eat.  The tip of the T-Stick changes from white to colored, indicating a safe temperature has been reached.

T-Sticks prevent infection from food-borne bacteria, such as E. coli O157:H7.  T-Sticks are much easier to use than meat thermometers.  The sensing part of a meat thermometer must be entirely inserted to be accurate, which is difficult to do with a 3/8-inch thick hamburger.  T-Sticks eliminate cross-contamination, and do not need to be recalibrated like regular thermometers.

How To Use T-Sticks

Insert the tapered end of the T-Stick  into the meat as it is cooking.  Hold it there for approximately 5 seconds.  Remove the T-Stick to see if a solid colored area has appeared.  (See  the pictures below.)  If the color has been triggered, the temperature indicated on the T-Stick has been reached.  If the meat / poultry is too hard to insert a T-Stick, first slit food with a knife and then insert the T-Stick.

Directions (for all T-Sticks):
T-Stick Burger Temperature Test Demonstration
1. Insert white plastic-coated end of T-Stick into the center of the food to be tested.  Do not remove the protective plastic coating.  Wait 5 seconds (10 seconds for T-170).
2. Remove T-Stick from food.  If plastic coated end has turned color, proper temperature of food has been reached.  T-Stick can be discarded
3. If plastic-coated
end is still white, food has not yet reached temperature.  Cook further and repeat steps 1 and 2, using the same T-Stick in the same food.

Test Dishwasher Rinse Water

Turns black if safe water temperature of 160°F (or 170°F) has been reached at the utensil surface.

May be placed anywhere in Dishwasher Rack.

Dishwasher Temperature Guages measure manifold inlet temperatures only.

T-Stick in Fork Holder verifies minimum water temperature of 160°F (or 170°F) wherever they are placed in the washer.

Suggestion: Place T-Stick and fork holder between plates or trays in rack to  prevent high pressure water from dislodging T-Stick, or a plastic clothes pin can be used to hold the T-Stick in place inside the dishwasher / traywasher.
